Bernhard Berger is the Deputy Head of the Sustainable Chemicals Unit in DG Environment. Previously, he worked for DG SANTE, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and also in various positions in DG Environment. Before joining the Services of the European Commission, he worked for the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organisation in Paris, France, and the University of Göttingen, Germany. He was a visiting scientist at the US Environmental Protection Agency and holds diplomas in Chemistry and Agricultural Engineering, as well as a PhD in Agronomy.
