Senior Researcher at the Laboratory for Wear, Testing & Materials of Instituto Pedro Nunes

Jorge Corker is a Senior Researcher at the Laboratory for Wear, Testing & Materials of Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN – LEDMAT), in Coimbra, Portugal. He is presently the Technical Director of IPN’s Granular Materials Characterization and Certification Unit lab (UGRAN) and a Doctoral Researcher at Brunel University London (UK). At the same time, he is also responsible for developing applied science research projects and running specialised technical services in materials. Over the last decade, he has participated in and coordinated several European FP7 and H2020 projects, emphasising the development of advanced solutions and new insulation materials for the construction sector (projects: StorePET, ICECLAY, VIP4ALL and GELCLAD). He is currently coordinating the H2020 European project (LC-EEB-01-2019) – POWERSKIN PLUS – Highly advanced modular integration of insulation, energising and storage systems for non-residential buildings (GA 869898). With extensive experience in the development and characterisation of raw materials and advanced solutions, he is also a member of the Mechanical Engineering Center of the University of Coimbra (PT). His main research topics include advanced materials for construction, nanomaterials, additive manufacturing, composites, and energy efficiency and sustainability materials.
